ABSTRACT DISORDER ON CANVAS PHILIPPE HALABURDA STUDIO, NEWBURGH, NY, USA FEBRUARY 2024
Lack of intelligible pattern
About the theme of "disorder"
I utilize abstract compositions on canvas to represent the chaotic and unpredictable nature of these conditions related to a disorder of consciousness.
Through acrylic paint, yarn, and tape, I create layers of texture and color
that reflect the lack of intelligible patterns often observed in individuals experiencing disorders of consciousness.
Each element contributes to the overall composition, evoking a sense of disarray and confusion that mirrors the internal experiences of those affected by
such disorders.
Acrylic paint serves as the primary medium in my artwork, allowing me to express the complexities of consciousness through bold strokes and vibrant hues.
By layering different colors and textures, I create a visual representation of the tangled and fragmented nature of thought processes in individuals with disorders of consciousness.
The unpredictable paint flow across the canvas mirrors the erratic fluctuations in cognitive function experienced by those living with these conditions.
In addition to acrylic paint, I incorporate yarn and tape into my compositions
to enhance the sense of disorder and disconnection.
These materials add a tactile element to the artwork, inviting viewers to engage with the surface of the canvas and explore its intricacies.
The use of yarn and tapes also introduces a sense of randomness and irregularity, echoing the unpredictable nature of consciousness in individuals with disorders such as coma or dissociative disorders.
Through these abstract compositions, I aim to provoke contemplation
and dialogue about the complexities of consciousness and the challenges faced
by those living with disorders that disrupt it.
