About the theme of "hiking map symbols"
To depict the intricate language of hiking map symbols and their representation of terrain features, I employ acrylic paint and color tape on paper to create abstract maps inspired by vegetation.
Using a combination of colors, shapes, and textures, I strive to capture
the essence of the natural landscape as conveyed through the shorthand symbols on hiking maps.
The acrylic paint serves as a foundation, allowing for the layering of color tape
to delineate different types of vegetation and terrain features.
In my artistic interpretation, I draw upon the functionality and elegance
of hiking map symbols to give hikers a mental picture of the terrain.
By strategically arranging color tape to form patterns and shapes reminiscent
of vegetation, I aim to evoke the diverse ecosystems found in nature.
Each strip of tape represents a different aspect of the landscape, from lush forests to sprawling meadows, offering viewers a visual representation
of the richness and variety of vegetation found in hiking destinations.
As viewers engage with these abstract maps, they are invited to explore
the intricate details of the natural world and the language of symbols used
to navigate it.
Through the interplay of acrylic paint and color tape, I aim to convey
the beauty and complexity of vegetation and its significance in shaping
the hiking experience.
Ultimately, these artworks celebrate the diversity and richness of the natural landscape, inviting viewers to embark on their own journeys of exploration and discovery (source: National Park Service).
