CUBIST CARTOGRAPHY ON CANVAS      PHILIPPE HALABURDA STUDIO IN NEWBURGH, NY, USA     APRIL 2021

I am a cubist

About the theme of "Cubism"

There are two essential references in this series of 3 paintings: Piet Mondrian and Cubism.

Mondrian because I reacted to his masterpiece, Composition Number III, with Red, Blue, Yellow, and Black, and
because Cubism also inspired him.

Mondrian's influence is evident in the precise geometric forms, while Cubism's multidimensional approach breathes life into my compositions.

By focusing on abstraction and getting an ideal representation of perceptions, I also search for all the visual possibilities to paint them.

The bold use of primary colors adds vibrancy, creating a dynamic interplay of
 shapes and lines.

A few years ago, I started to fragment the subject matter and deconstruct it
so that it can be accessed from various angles simultaneously = Cubism.

Employing angular forms, fractured perspectives, and intersecting lines,
the canvas becomes a multidimensional map.

The color tapes add vibrancy and depth to the abstract representation
of landscapes.

My Cubist cartography on canvas unfolds as a dynamic fusion of geometric abstraction and spatial exploration.

Through this unique approach, the viewer is invited to engage with an unconventional cartographic experience that transcends traditional boundaries, offering a Cubist perspective on the complexity of space and place.
